Prison Terms Cut for 3 Israelis Serving Life

JERUSALEM — President Chaim Herzog on Friday reduced the prison terms of three Jewish convicts, sentenced to life for a 1983 attack on a Palestinian university that killed three people and wounded 33.
Herzog reduced the life sentences of Menachem Livni, Shaul Nir and Uzi Sharbaf to 24 years, the president’s spokesman Ami Gluska said.
The move allows the three to appeal for a further reduction in their sentences for good behavior. It also means they will be allowed home visits during holidays.
