A leading Chinese dancer criticized others in her profession for wearing “see-through” costumes, saying such trends stem from “bourgeois liberal” foreign influences, the official People’s Daily newspaper said Tuesday. Said dancer Cui Meishan: “These dancers attract audiences not by improving their skills but through their costumes, and they wear clothes which make the audience feel uncomfortable.” The criticisms come as a campaign against bourgeois liberalism--defined as capitalist ideas and Western trends--enters its fourth month.
