Cudahy : Job Training Grant Sought
A federal grant is being sought to help with the construction of a proposed $1.2-million job training center in Cudahy. An application to the Department of Economic Development Administration requests an award between $600,000 and $960,000, which is the maximum amount allowed for this particular project, said Maynard Law, assistant city manager.
The funds would be used to help construct a two-story addition with 20 classrooms onto an existing one-story building at Clara Street Park. The remaining money needed for construction is expected to come from various city funds and state grants.
Additionally, Law said, the city will attempt to form a job training consortium with nearby cities to help train unemployed and underemployed persons in basic skills for entry-level jobs.
