Chen Shoots a 67 to Win Korea Open

SEOUL, South Korea — Little-known Chen Liang-hsi of Taiwan shot a five-under-par 67 Sunday for a four-day total of 279 to win the $130,000 Korea Open Golf Championship, a leg of the 1987 Asia Circuit.
Chen, 28, earned $21,500 for the first victory in his five-year professional career.
Chen trailed by one stroke going into the final round, but he shot a one-under-par 35 on the front nine to pull ahead of 70 pros and eight amateurs at the par-72, 6,861-yard Nam Seoul Country Club.
On the back nine, Chen made four birdies without bogey and finished with the day’s best score.
Brian Tennyson of the United States and Kim Sung-ho of South Korea tied for second place at 282, three strokes behind.
Americans Jim Hallet and Jeff Hart were one shot back of Tennyson and Kim at 283.
