Trimedyne Receives 2nd Catheter Patent

Trimedyne Inc. said it has received a second patent for its Laserprobe Catheter technology from the U.S. Patent Office.
The new patent protects the design components in the steering mechanism that guides the Santa Ana company’s catheters through blood vessels. Early last month, the company received a patent for the design and use of the technology.
Trimedyne Inc., which makes a number of medical devices, received U.S. FDA approval in March to market its Laserprobe-PLR Catheter for atherosclerosis of the legs.
