Erwin N. Jones, former superintendent of the Covina-Valley Unified School District, has been appointed to the Southern California Rapid Transit District board. The 61-year-old Covina resident was named to the 11-member governing board by Los Angeles County Supervisor Pete Schabarum. He replaced Leonard Panish, a management consultant who resigned to devote more time to his business.
