The body of an unidentified man believed to have drowned earlier in the week after getting caught in a riptide was washed ashore Saturday about a half-mile north of the Santa Monica Pier, authorities said.
Police Sgt. Bill Kemp said the victim, who was in his mid-20s, about 6 feet tall and weighed about 160 pounds, was wearing a gray bathing suit.
The description of the body is the same as that of a man who was seen drowning about 150 yards off of Venice Beach on Tuesday, police said. The identity of the man was not known, and no one reported him missing, officers said.
