Twelve-year-old Elena Miroshina of the Soviet Union and Olympic champion Greg Louganis of the United States were the platform-diving winners in the McDonald’s International meet at Boca Raton, Fla.
Miroshina, just 4 feet 8 inches and 70 pounds, scored 479.28 points to defeat defending champion and Olympic silver medalist Michele Mitchell of Boca Raton, Fla. Mitchell turned in her second best score ever, 468.03. The bronze medal went to 14-year-old Guan Xueqing of China.
Louganis held off the Soviet Union’s Arsen Djivadian, 20, to earn his second title in two days. Scoring 639.93 points, the 27-year-old Louganis hung on to the tenuous lead he established in the eighth round to win.
Djivadian was second with a score of 633.72, and Bruce Kimball, 23, Ann Arbor, Mich., was third with 618.27.
