Irvine : UC Irvine Promotes Director of Computing

David Sheldon, director of computing and telecommunications at UC Irvine for the past 10 years, has been appointed associate vice chancellor of administrative and business services for the university. He will also continue in his position as head of computing and telecommunications, the university announced.
Sheldon’s new position as associate vice chancellor makes him responsible for an annual budget of $17 million and a staff of 500. Areas under his supervision include environmental health and safety, police, administrative information systems, staff personnel and accounting.
Sheldon will also work with the deputy director of the UCI Medical Center in Orange “to ensure compliance with campus policies and hospital regulations,” a university spokeswoman said.
An employee of UCI for 20 years, Sheldon and his wife, Beverly, live in Costa Mesa.
