Hanna-Barbera, the largest of Hollywood’s animation studios, broke ranks with four others and reached a settlement with striking actors who create cartoon voices, a union spokesman said today.
The animation company that produces such cartoons as “Yogi Bear’s Treasure Hunt,” “The Jetsons,” and “The Flintstones,” reached agreement during federally mediated talks late Tuesday, Screen Actors Guild spokesman Mark Locher said. Actors who perform cartoon character voices for Hanna-Barbera could be back at work as early as next Monday, Locher said. No new talks were scheduled between the guild and the remaining struck studios, Walt Disney Co., Marvel, DIC and Filmation. Ed Prelock, the negotiator representing the studios, was unavailable for comment.
