Chad Leader in Paris Seeking Assurances

PARIS — President Hissen Habre of Chad began an official visit to France on Sunday, the first since his French-backed army inflicted a series of defeats on Libyan troops in the sub-Saharan country earlier this year.
Habre, who arrived aboard a French government plane, is expected to seek assurances of France’s continued support against rebel forces backed by Libya.
