Thousands of Soviet Jews in Israel are tuning in to Soviet television via rooftop satellite-dishes. About 100,000 of the 175,000 Soviet Jews who have immigrated to Israel since 1967 now watch Soviet television, according to Nissim Cohen of Panorama, Israel’s largest vendor of satellite dishes. Israel’s Russian-language newspaper, Sputnik, began listing Soviet television programs 10 months ago. Many viewers are said to be particularly interested in the changes in life under Communist Party leader Mikhail S. Gorbachev.
