“A Lesson in Love.” Embassy. $29.95. In this low-pressure 1954 romantic comedy, you can still clearly see Ingmar Bergman’s high qualities as a film maker. Rather than ambitious social themes, symbols or Angst (all under the surface), Bergman focuses on the tiffs of a sophisticated couple--driven apart by the gynecologist husband’s infidelities. The material may seem slight, but Bergman’s handling is expert; fairly early in his career he comes across like the Swedish Cukor. The film is full of grace, buoyancy and sly wit--and the cast is deliciously agile: Gunnar Bjornstrand and Eva Dahlbeck as the couple, Harriet Andersson as their rebellious daughter, and Yvonne Lombard and Ake Gronberg as a pair of indiscretions.
