ICU Medical Signs Pact With Baxter Travenol

ICU Medical Inc. of Mission Viejo said that Baxter Travenol Laboratories, a giant medical products distributor, has agreed to carry ICU’s high-risk infection control intravenous products. The deal, which Winslow P. Freeman Jr., ICU’s chairman and chief executive, valued at “tens of millions of dollars,” will give the company its first distribution network in the United States.

The 3 1/2-year pact with Baxter Travenol gives the Chicago-based medical products company exclusive U.S. sales rights to two ICU products designed to minimize the risk to health-care personnel of accidental punctures from contaminated needles. Baxter Travenol also received the rights to a yet-to-be announced ICU product.
