Union Carbide’s income jumped 92%to $69 million in the second quarter. The Danbury, Conn., concern said sales volume combined with price improvement in chemicals and plastics, a 24% drop in interest costs and favorable currency exchange rates all helped results. Revenue was up 3% for the quarter.
