Althea Flynt, found dead in a bathtub at her home nearly a month ago, had AIDS for about three years before her death, her husband, Hustler magazine publisher Larry Flynt, said. When asked if his wife was suffering from acquired immune deficiency syndrome, Flynt told the Associated Press: “Yes. That’s what I understood from the doctor. She was diagnosed almost three years ago.” He said she had been very ill during the months before her death and had lost a lot of weight. Coroner’s spokesman Bill Gold said there was no initial evidence that Mrs. Flynt, 33, died from AIDS-related causes. Autopsy results were still incomplete, he said. But it has been reported by People magazine and others that she was the victim of an AIDS-related condition.
