Polish Navy coasted to a 2-length victory in the $177,900 Jim Dandy Stakes at Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. The victory in a steady rain capped a sweep of Saratoga’s graded weekend stakes by jockey Pat Day, who won the Whitney Handicap Saturday aboard Java Gold.
Java Gold and Polish Navy had identical times of 1:48 2/5 for 1 1/8 miles. Both colts are headed toward a showdown with Alysheba and Bet Twice in the $1-million Travers Stakes Aug. 22 at Saratoga.
Polish Navy, which earned $106,740, paid $4.40, $3.20 and $2.20 as the favorite of the crowd of 32,120. Pledge Card returned $3.80 and $2.40, and Cryptoclearance paid $2.40 to show.
