PARKER, Ariz. — A La Habra man was killed and a Whittier woman was injured Monday in a waterborne collision on the Colorado River.
Capt. Hal Collette of the La Paz County sheriff’s office said Troy Settimo, 19, was killed when the boat in which he was a passenger collided with another vessel.
Collette said the boat in which Settimo was riding was driven by Deborah Streety, 19, who suffered serious injuries.
Streety had just pulled away from fuel docks at Buckskin State Park when her boat accelerated rapidly and turned sharply into the path of an oncoming ski boat. The ski boat then crashed on top of her vessel, Collette said.
