Donlan, Upshaw Will Hold Secret Meeting

The chief negotiators in the stalemated National Football League labor talks agreed to meet again today to try to avert a seemingly inevitable strike by pro football players next week.
The meeting between management’s Jack Donlan and the union’s Gene Upshaw, at an undisclosed site, will not be a formal negotiating session. The purpose of the meeting is to explore avenues that may avert a strike by the players next Tuesday.
No new bargaining talks are scheduled and players remain set to walk out Tuesday, the day after the New England-New York Jets game closes out the second week of the season.
