According to Weisman’s article, the illegals claim that if the Simpson-Rodino act is allowed to be enforced, not only will the economy of California collapse but families will be separated. Nonsense. As far as the economy collapsing, this argument was used by Southern plantation owners when the slaves were freed, and their economy is healthy. As far as separating families, let those not eligible file for admission under the immigration laws. Just because we happen to be a wealthy nation doesn’t mean we have to support other countries less fortunate.
