Israel has decided to allow a group of Israeli Arabs to make a pilgrimage to Mecca next year, a government official said. Amos Gelbou, a senior official of the agency that oversees Arab affairs, said the government has received approval from Jordan and Saudi Arabia for a plan permitting Israeli Arab Muslims to travel to Islam’s holiest city by way of Jordan. About 1,000 Israeli Muslims are expected to make the trip.
