New World Entertainment posted a loss of $6.4 million for the third quarter and said it anticipates additional losses in the fourth quarter, including unrecognized losses from the company’s marketable securities portfolio. For the nine months, the entertainment company reported income of $617,000, down from nearly $6 million last year. New World attributed its third-quarter results to increased interest and overhead expenses, box office disappointments--including “House II”--and deficits associated with its production of television shows. Third-quarter revenue rose 60% to $76.5 million.
