Owners and operators of California movie theaters are alarmed by the state’s new $4.25-per-hour minimum wage. A Daily Variety report published Monday quoted Robert Selig, president of the 2,000-screen Theater Assn. of California, as saying the wage hike will eliminate thousands of jobs for teens and other first-time workers in the movie theaters. “We are, after agriculture, the largest California employer of first-time workers with no previous experience,” said Selig.
