The owner of a San Gabriel business and one of his employees were shot to death at the company’s office Tuesday morning and another employee was wounded in the face and chest, police said.
San Gabriel police said they do not have a suspect or know of a motive and have not recovered a weapon. Robbery did not appear to be involved because the offices were not ransacked, and the men’s wallets were not taken, Lt. Larry Johnson said.
Killed were Otto Baumann, the 78-year-old owner of O & G Water Conditioning, and Fredrick (Bud) Schaub, 58, vice president of the company, which sells water purification equipment.
Leo Blakeman, 74, of Glendora was reported in critical condition after undergoing surgery at San Gabriel Valley Medical Center.
Sgt. Richard Arnold said Blakeman told police that he had been the first person to arrive at work Tuesday morning. Blakeman did not see his assailant and passed out before he could telephone for help, Arnold said.
Police were called at 10:29 a.m. after a secretary arrived and found the doors locked.
