Norway Honors Ingrid Kristiansen

OSLO, Norway — Long distance runner Ingrid Kristiansen has been chosen Norway’s Sports Personality of 1987 for the second consecutive year by Norwegian sports writers.
Kristiansen, honored for her world championship in the 10,000 meters in Rome and the road race world title in Monaco, received 28 points out of a total of 100 from a panel of sports writers.
Runner-up was Geir Karlstad, who holds the men’s 5,000- and 10,000-meter world records in speed skating. He got 24 points.
The award has been given annually since 1948. Women have been received the statuette 11 times.
