Local News in Brief : 4.0 Quake Aftershock

A temblor described as an aftershock of the Oct. 1 Whittier earthquake jolted Southern California on Tuesday, but there were no immediate reports of injury or damage.
The earthquake measured 4.0 on the Richter scale, Caltech spokesman Robert Finn said. It occurred at 3:15 p.m. and was centered in the San Gabriel Valley six miles southeast of Pasadena.
The shaker was felt in several San Gabriel Valley communities hit hardest by the Oct. 1 quake that measured 5.9, such as Whittier, Pasadena, South Pasadena, Alhambra, Monterey Park and Rosemead. But this time, Lt. Gregg Henderson of the Pasadena Police Department said happily, “I didn’t even feel it.”
