High School Winter Sports : Holt Makes Mark at Both Ends as Royal Stifles Westlake, 5-0

Royal goalkeeper Karl Holt has recorded seven consecutive shutouts, but he is fast becoming famous for his scoring.
Holt scored a goal Thursday--the third time he has scored on a penalty kick this season--as Royal defeated Westlake, 5-0, in a Marmonte League soccer match at Royal. It was Holt’s 13th shutout of the season.
Holt, a senior, scored when a Royal player was fouled in the Westlake penalty area. Any player may take a penalty kick.
“He scored on two of those against Channel Islands, so he’s getting pretty good at it,” Royal Coach Peter Schraml said.
Royal is 17-1-2 and 7-1.
Hart 1, Burbank 1--Jerry Miller scored for Hart 25 minutes into the second half on an assist from Rick Kempf, and Ceasar Solis scored for Burbank in a Foothill League match at Burbank.
Both teams are 7-2-1 and tied for second in league play. Hart is 13-4-1 overall.
Calabasas 1, Agoura 0--Sophomore forward Jason Kuykendall scored the only goal in the Frontier League match as the Coyotes improved to 12-4-1 overall and 5-1 in Frontier League play. Agoura dropped to 11-3-2, 2-3-1.
Kuykendall’s goal came on a corner kick by Paul Ratcliffe at the 15-minute mark of the second half.
GIRLS’ SOCCER
Chaminade 6, St. Monica 0--Senior center-halfback Cris Casazza scored three goals to help the Eagles past visiting St. Monica in a Sunshine League match at Chaminade The Eagles are 10-3-1, 7-0-1.
WRESTLING
Chaminade 34, Harvard 30--Chaminade’s Justin Stark pinned Kevin Newman at the 2:40 mark to clinch a Santa Fe League win for the Eagles at Chaminade.
Stark ran his record in the 177-pound division to 21-1. Teammates Frank Conley (107 pounds) and Chris Hayes (134) also notched falls for Chaminade (4-5, 1-2).
El Camino Real 61, Granada Hills 12--Seven wrestlers recorded pins for the Conquistadores in a West Valley League win.
Greg McMurray (105), John Soh (126), Karl Hasz (132) and Jason Emard (138) all recorded pins for the Conquistadores (4-0 in league meets).
Also recording pins were Scott Spindell (145), Mike Weiss (154) and heavyweight Robert Young.
