A 75-year-old Los Angeles man was killed Wednesday morning when he lost control of his car and crashed head-on into oncoming traffic in Newport Beach, seriously injuring a mother and daughter, authorities said.
John Henry Green was declared dead at the scene, Newport Beach police spokesman Robert Oakley said.
Carmit Neff, 35, of Newport Beach and her daughter, Danielle, 3, were listed in serious condition Wednesday night at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital. Neff suffered a broken leg and abdominal injury, and her daughter suffered a broken pelvis and a cut left eye, Oakley said.
Green was traveling southbound on MacArthur Boulevard north of San Joaquin Hills Road at 9 a.m. when he lost control of his Chevrolet station wagon for unknown reasons and crossed into northbound traffic, striking Neff’s Volvo station wagon head-on, Oakley said.
