James Rosati; Violinist- Turned-Sculptor
James Rosati, 76, sculptor. His rounded marble statues and busts stand in New York’s World Trade Center, on the grounds of the National Gallery of Art and the Hubert Humphrey Building in Washington, and in several dozen museums and corporate offices around the world. A violinist by training, he played briefly with the Pittsburgh Chamber Orchestra but switched to sculpting for the Works Progress Administration during the Depression. In New York City on Wednesday of a heart attack.
