Q.B.I. Corp., a Santa Ana electronics manufacturer, has been acquired by competitor California Quartz in exchange for about 10% of the stock in California Quartz. California Quartz, which makes precision quartz carriers for the semiconductor industry, had revenues of $6 million in 1987, according to David J. Lopes, an owner of the privately held firm. Revenues for Q.B.I., which was founded 13 years ago by Otto Gruneberg, totaled $1 million in 1987, Lopes said. He said that Gruneberg, Q.B.I.’s former owner, has joined California Quartz in an “engineering capacity,” and that Q.B.I’s county operations will be expanded.
