The Boss Is Back

Oh-oh, I smell trouble.
Robert Hilburn is starting to whip out those Bruce Springsteen articles again. There have been two (count ‘em, two) in just as many weeks (“Springsteen in His ‘Tunnel of Love,’ ” Feb. 27 and “Springsteen Forgets Some ‘Run’ Lines, Explains Why,” March 1).
This can only mean one thing--Hilburn’s gone into the dreaded “Springsteen trance,” a semi-catatonic state resulting in the victim blissfully turning out Springsteen articles ad infinitum.
Hey, Bobby, snap out of it! Do it, if for no other reason, for us, the Springsteen fans of Southern California.
The review of opening night of the tour I can deal with. But (and I think I speak for the other Springsteen fans) I could do without the front-line reports on how Bruce forgot the words of “Born to Run.” This enquiring mind doesn’t want to know.
