A 19-year-old San Diegan who police first questioned as a witness was later arrested Monday as a suspect in the slaying of a 22-year-old man Saturday.
Simon James Oakes was being held on suspicion of murdering Daniel Fripp, who was found fatally shot Saturday in a house on Caminito Punta Arenas in a San Diego neighborhood near Del Mar, police spokesman Bill Robinson said.
Police were called about 1 a.m. Saturday about a disturbance involving Fripp at the home, Robinson said, but were later told not to come because Fripp had left the house.
Fripp’s body was found at about 3 a.m. when the homeowners returned after taking friends home, Robinson said.
