The World : U.S. to Ease Sales to China

The Reagan Administration is preparing to open the way for the export of new kinds of high-technology goods to China, removing the limits that were imposed last year after China sold Silkworm missiles to Iran, State Department officials said. They said the change in U.S. policy toward China could be announced within the next few days. Last October, the Administration called a halt to the process of gradually easing limits on the export to China of high-technology equipment. A senior official said last week that the United States believes China is honoring its pledge to stop all sales of the Silkworms on the international market and is no longer selling the missiles to Iran.
