College Roundup : Oberdank Keeps Hitting for UCI

UC Irvine’s Jeff Oberdank extended his multiple hitting streak to 10 games Monday, going 3 for 4 to lead the Anteaters to a 5-4 nonconference baseball victory over Gonzaga at Irvine.
The first of Oberdank’s three singles came in the first inning and was followed by a single by Stacy Parker. John Seeburger doubled both runners home to give Irvine (13-11-1) a 2-0 lead over Gonzaga (5-4).
In nonconference men’s tennis:
UC Irvine 8, Fresno State 1--Richard Lupner, Irvine’s No. 3 singles player, extended his singles record to 14-5, defeating David Lomicky, 4-6, 6-4, 6-0, at Irvine. Irvine, ranked seventh in the country, improves to 9-3; Fresno State is 6-7.
In college golf:
UC Irvine, led by Craig Inaba with a 72, finished second among nine teams in the University of San Diego Invitational at Stardust Country Club. San Diego State won the tournament at 370, two strokes ahead of Irvine.
