Steve Thornton, Dana Hills High School boys’ basketball coach, resigned Tuesday for personal reasons and to pursue other coaching possibilities, he said.
“I’ve been there nine years, I think it’s time for a change,” Thornton said Tuesday. “There are some other things I want to pursue--hooking on at a junior college or maybe a four-year (college). I have a few irons in the fire.”
Thornton had a 118-90 record at Dana Hills, and his teams made six Southern Section playoff appearances.
Thornton said he will continue as softball coach and history teacher at Dana Hills through the school year.
