The first $1.5 million raised from a concert to benefit Vietnam veterans, which featured such artists as Neil Diamond, Linda Ronstadt, and Crosby, Stills and Nash, has been handed out, the event’s organizers announced in Los Angeles.
The money was given to 10 Midwest and West Coast veterans organizations on Monday and to 10 East Coast groups on Tuesday, said Jo Ellen Talley, producer of the concert and president of Welcome Home Inc., the nonprofit entertainment industry group that organized the July 4 event in Washington.
More than $2 million has been raised from the “Welcome Home” concert, and $300,000 more is to be given to three Michigan groups in May, she said.
