The Los Angeles County Transportation Commission has scheduled an open house from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at its Watts field office on the Long Beach-to-Los Angeles light rail line under construction.
A 15-minute film will be shown and questions will be answered on how the 21-mile line will operate. The field office is at 1827 E. 103rd St. Information is at 620-RAIL.
Construction is at its mid-point, according to Jackie Bacharach, county transportation commissioner. The first tracks were laid early this year in Long Beach and work is under way in the Florence-Firestone, Watts-Willowbrook and Compton communities.
The $752-million line is being built with Proposition A funds, the half-cent sales tax for transit. It is scheduled to open in 1990.
