Community College Roundup : Saddleback Women Defeat Cypress

Debbie Hartwig had an RBI single with two out in the eighth inning to lead Saddleback College to a 2-1 victory over Cypress Wednesday in an Orange Empire Conference softball game at Saddleback.
Tiffany Caressi opened the eighth with a single and was sacrificed to second for first-place Saddleback (22-3, 9-0), which moved two games ahead of second-place Cypress (15-8, 7-2).
In another Orange Empire game:
Rancho Santiago 5, Orange Coast 0--Freshman Karen Beebe threw a no-hitter for host Rancho Santiago (9-10, 5-4).
In the South Coast Conference:
Fullerton 6, El Camino 4--Tracy Smith had three hits, including a home run, and Julie Poulos had four hits and scored two runs for visiting Fullerton (19-4, 8-0). Kristin Jacobs (18-1) pitched four innings for the victory.
In South Coast Conference volleyball:
Golden West 3, El Camino 1--Dean Cunningham had 20 kills to lead host Golden West (7-3, 6-3) to a 15-6, 8-15, 15-12, 15-3 victory.
