Chris Cox’s Duties in the White House

I understand that questions have been raised by a recent article in the April 9 Orange County edition of The Times concerning the scope of Christopher Cox’s White House duties during the two years prior to his resignation this past February.
Immediately prior to announcing as a candidate for Congress in California’s 40th District, Chris Cox was senior associate counsel to President Reagan, serving as the third-ranking lawyer on the President’s staff and acting as both a legal and policy adviser on domestic and international matters within the White House.
During his tenure, he crafted proposals for reform of the congressional budget process, drafted legislation and executive orders for the President, formulated recommendations for presidential signature or veto of legislation passed by the Congress, reviewed and revised drafts of presidential speeches and represented the White House in policy meetings and briefings.
