AND WAIT, THERE’S MORE: How big is Van Halen? Too big for just one installment of “Rockline,” the syndicated rock-gab radio show that just celebrated its seventh anniversary. So the program’s live Van Halen interviews will stretch over two shows, with the band’s rhythm section handling Monday night’s 90-minute installment, while Eddie Van Halen and Sammy Hagar host the May 23 follow-up. The shows start at 8:30 p.m. on KLOS-FM. . . . Ex-Police guitarist Andy Summers has a new album due out next month called “Mysterious Barricades.” . . . Meanwhile, fellow ex-Policer Stewart Copeland has a new band, with Stanley Clarke, called Animal Logical. . . . Steely Dan’s ever-reclusive Walter Becker is at work, producing a new album by China Crisis. . . . John Hiatt is making his new album in Nashville, with Glyn Johns producing and his road band, Bayou Rhythm, playing on the sessions. . . . W.A.S.P.’s next record is now called “Wild Howls and Thunder.” . . . And Queensryche is back this week with a new album, called “Operation: Mindcrime.” . . . And R&B; sax legend Big Jay McNeely is back, on Big J Records, with a new album called “AZ Booting,” a reference not only to his sax prowess but to his new back-up band, the Phoenix-based Rocket 88s.
