Suit Seeks to Halt Sale of Bakker’s Heritage USA

FT. MILL, S.C. — An organization that supports fallen PTL leader Jim Bakker promised a lawsuit Friday to prevent sports entrepreneur George Shinn from buying the ministry’s Heritage USA complex.
“We’ve already got about 150 names on a (list), and we’re fixing to do a class-action suit,” Inez Brown, vice president of the Bring Bakker Back organization said. “When they steal our property, which we paid for, then it’s time for us to stand up and take action.”
An agreement between Shinn and current PTL leaders could save the ministry from liquidation and give Shinn a site for his proposed sports complex.
Under the plan, Shinn would buy all or most of PTL’s property at the Heritage USA complex in York County and lease certain religious operations to a new tax-exempt ministry that would evolve from PTL.
