Clairemont Man Is Slain in Home

A 41-year-old Clairemont man was found beaten and stabbed to death on the floor of his living room early Saturday.
Police said the victim, John W. Pickens, was killed during an apparent domestic disturbance shortly after 3 a.m. in his home in the 4800 block of Clairemont Mesa Blvd.
A suspect, identified as Michael Burgess, 28, of San Diego, was arrested about 8 a.m. at the Pickwick Hotel downtown, police said. He was booked at County Jail downtown on suspicion of murder.
