Australian retailer Coles Myer Ltd. will bring K mart discount department stores to New Zealand.
Coles Chairman Brian Quinn said the first store is expected to open in the Auckland area later this year. It had acquired sole rights for New Zealand from K mart Corp. of the United States, one of the largest U.S. retailers.
Coles Myer recently bought New Zealand supermarket operator Progressive Enterprises Ltd. Coles operates 131 K mart stores in Australia.
