Winners of the competition, named for Aldridge, the 19th-Century black actor who had to go to Europe to find a career, shared $2,000 in prize money that was donated by Ted (“Love Boat”) Lange. First place: Marcus Naylor, Sonia Jackson. Second place: Margret Mahlanza, Hassan El-Amin. Third place: Claudia Robinson, Caine Richardson. Runners-up received a unicorn pin, emblazoned with the word “Persevere.” Malcom Jamal-Warner of the Cosby show is an alumnus of this competition.
