United Education Reports 154% Gain in 1st Quarter

United Education & Software said its earnings in the first quarter that ended April 30 climbed 154% to $1.1 million, or 21 cents a share, from $432,000, or 9 cents a share, a year earlier.
The Encino chain of 33 trade schools, which has grown steadily as a result of acquisitions, said its revenue increased 61% from the year-earlier quarter, to $25.3 million from $15.8 million.
