Southern Section Golf Championships : Estancia Earns Tie for Third Place

Estancia High School tied for third Monday at the Southern Section team golf final at the Canyon Country Club in Palm Springs.
The Eagles finished with 396, along with La Verne Damien.
Long Beach Millikan (382) upset defending champion Westlake (384) for the title.
Jeff Manson, the 1987 Southern Section individual champion, led Millikan with a 73. But Millikan got an unexpected boost from its No. 6 player, Brendan Gilbert, who shot a two-over-par 74.
Millikan was helped by Matt PeGan, who shot a 75, Stephen Plummer (77), and Russ Insalaco (83).
The top four teams advance to the CIF Southern California Golf Assn. championships June 6 at La Jolla Country Club.
