Golden West’s Thobe Signs With the Cubs

Tom Thobe, a freshman pitcher at Golden West College, has signed with the Chicago Cubs, the team announced Monday.
Thobe was 10-3 for Golden West this season. Thobe, a 6-foot 5-inch left-hander, was drafted out of Edison High School last June and the Cubs retained his rights until the June draft.
Thobe will report to the Cubs’ rookie team at Wytheville, Va., in the Appalachian League in two weeks.
