Glenda Brawley, the mother of a black Wappingers Falls, N.Y., teen-ager who said she was abducted and raped by six white men in November, defied a subpoena to testify before a grand jury, saying she promised her daughter, “We’ll fight them.” The mother of Tawana Brawley, 16, appeared on the New York City radio station WLIB at the time she was scheduled to testify before a grand jury in Poughkeepsie. The Brawley family has refused to cooperate with investigators. Atty. Gen. Robert Abrams issued a statement saying he would seek a court order “to show cause why she should not be held in contempt of court.”
