A 35-year-old man apparently shot his wife to death and then killed himself Thursday night while the couple was visiting friends at a Buena Park apartment, police said.
Officer Rich McMillen said the man, who had a prior criminal record, and his 25-year-old wife went to their friends’ home with an infant child shortly before 7:20 p.m.
Neighbors told police that they heard an argument and then three shots fired. The couple who lived in the apartment fled, leaving their own two children behind.
Police sent up a command post in the neighborhood and tried to make contact with the people inside. When there was no response after three hours, officers moved in and found the bodies. The three children, ranging in age from 8 months to 3 years, were unharmed.
