The Delaware Chancery Court issued a temporary restraining order preventing Macmillan Inc. from moving forward with its restructuring plan, which was scheduled to go into effect this weekend. The ruling is a victory for Robert M. Bass Group, whose $1.9-billion takeover bid for the publishing firm would have been blocked by Macmillan’s restructuring. The court said the restructuring could “adversely affect the quality of shareholders’ investments.” The order remains in effect until June 27, when a more extensive hearing will be held. Jacobs required Bass Group to post a $1-million bond during that period.
